Małgorzata Cackowska
Małgorzata Cackowska, an Associate Professor within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gdańsk, occupies a prominent position in the intersection of educational theory and children’s literary studies. Her sophisticated research trajectory explores the socio-political construction of discourses within picturebooks and the evolving role of new technologies in childhood education. Building upon the international success of her co-authored volumes, Look! Polish Picturebook! (2017) and Captains of Illustrations (2019), which reinvigorated global interest in the Polish School of Illustration, her recent scholarly inquiries have transitioned towards the materiality and cognitive dimensions of contemporary non-fiction narratives. By situating the visual rhetoric of children’s media within broader cultural contexts, Cackowska’s work critically interrogates how aesthetic forms shape ideological perceptions. Her contributions facilitate a nuanced understanding of the pedagogical potential in graphic literature, bridging historical legacy and digital innovation.
