Green Dialogues
Teacher training in environmental children’s literature through dialogic teaching practices.

Project record
Green Dialogues was a four year NOTED funded collaboration between the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, the University of Padova, and the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya. It brought environmental children’s literature, dialogic teaching, sustainable development, student mobility, and staff exchange into conversation across teacher education.
The project concluded in 2025. Its research, teaching materials, public activities, and international collaborations remain available through this archive and the project’s open access publication.
Four strands of work
Curriculum and dialogue
Shared teaching and methodological development connected children’s literature with ecological questions, close reading, discussion, and classroom practice.
Students and staff
International exchange created opportunities for students and staff to learn across institutions, languages, and educational contexts.
Research in public
Seminars, conferences, exhibitions, publications, and teaching resources extended the project’s work beyond the participating institutions.
From collaboration to publication
Padova symposium and Nature Agency
Networking, workshops, and teaching activities in Padova accompanied the Nature Agency conference on children’s literature, environmental imagination, and ecopedagogy.
Padova symposium
Students, staff, and project partners met in Padova for networking, tool development, workshops, and project work.
Final seminar and international dissemination
The final seminar took place in Barcelona. The project was subsequently presented at the 2025 International Research Society for Children’s Literature conference.
Open access book
The Green Dialogues: Ecocritical Pathways to Children’s Literature in Education was published by Springer Nature, bringing together the project’s conceptual framework and fifteen activities for literary and educational work.
